E3 2016 - Sony Press Conference Recap

God of War

Sony opened the show with an amazing stage demo of the brand new God of War, with an entire orchestra playing the game music live. The gameplay demonstrated a deer hunt gone wrong when the boy and his teacher gets ambsuhed by a bunch of demons.

Days Gone

The show led straight into the world premier of an apocalyptic style action RPG called Days Gone. Later in the show we got to see a 10 minute long gameplay demo that was absolutely nerve-racking.

The Last Guardian

We finally have a release date! In a short new trailer, Sony announced The Last Guardian will be coming to PS4 on October 25 this year. The trailer also showed an overview of the area you will play in.

Horizon: Zero Dawn

Sony showed off a massive gameplay demo of Aloy coming up against an ancient machine that was turning robots in the area corrupt. We also got to see a bit of the dialogue system and how to transform a machine into a mount to ride around on.

Horizon: Zero Dawn is releasing February 28, 2017 only on PS4. Check out the E3 exclusive gameplay demo below:

Detroit Become Human

Next up was a brand new trailer for PlayStation exclusive Detroit Become Human. First announced at Paris Games Week in 2015, Detroit Become Human is a story based thriller centered around multiple playable characters. The story plays out depending on what choices you make. I sure as hell am excited to get my hands on this one.

Resident Evil VII: Biohazard

The next Resident Evil is making a bold move into first-person perspective horror. Not only is Biohazard coming to consoles, but Sony has also announced the full game will come to VR. Everyone grab your puke buckets.

PlayStation VR

As accustomed to E3 this year, Sony also shared what's coming to their VR system. Farpoint - a first-person shooter set on an alien planet, Star Wars Battlefront: X-Wing VR Mission - first-person space ship battles, Batman Arkham VR - PlayStation VR exclusive, and finally, Final Fantasy XV VR Experience - play as Prompto.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare

Immediately after the swarm of VR trailers, Sony showed off some brand new gameplay footage from the next Call of Duty title. The player character, Reyes, is on a mission in outer space, infiltrating a nearby space ship. The new trailer showed off sick space battles and new equipment, like a shield that highlighted living enemies in red when held up. Infinite Warfare releases November 4 on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Sony also showed off the trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, free when you pre-order Infinite Warfare.

Crash Bandicoot

Activision and Sony have teamed up to bring the main three titles of Crash Bandicoot to the PS4, remastered from the ground up. They did not have footage to show at E3, but instead announced a new Skylanders game where Crash will appear in.

Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Sony announced a playable demo on the PlayStation Store, available now, for the upcoming Lego Star Wars adventure. The full game releases in just one week. Check out the action packed E3 trailer:

Death Stranding

In a somewhat over-dramatic but totally deserved introduction, Hideo Kojima (Metal Gear Solid creator) from Kojima Productions came to the stage to announce his brand new game, staring Norman Reedus, called Death Stranding. Please do yourself a favour and watch the intriguing reveal trailer:

O M G. In a very surprising reveal, Sony showed the world premier trailer for Spider-Man on the PS4, in development by Insomniac Games (Spyro, Ratchet & Clank). No other information was revealed, but judging from Spidey's brand new costume, I'm guessing it will be a separate entity to the blockbuster movies.

Sony absolutely blew away E3 2016. Here's to the very bright future of console gaming!
